Stereo imaging system for optical tracking of 3D positions and orientations of active or passive markers with extremely high accuracy and reliability.
The 3D camera is located in the Regional Center of Excellence for Robotic Technologies (CRTA) within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, in the Laboratory for Medical Robotics.
Polaris is a vision system from the Canadian manufacturer NDI (Northern Digital Incorporated) intended for the acquisition of 3D data. The system comes in two variants: Polaris Vicra and Polaris Spectra, which differ in the size of the measured volume. Within this volume, maximum accuracy and reliability in determining the position and orientation of the marker is guaranteed.
Polaris is used in medicine in the following areas: computer-aided therapy, dental implantology, ear, throat and nose surgery; integration with medical robots, neurosurgery, orthopedics, PET procedures, image-guided radiotherapy, spinal surgery, transcranial magnetic stimulation.
