The infrared camera serves as an infra-red radiation detector. By measuring the amount of radiation of a body it is possible to determine its temperature. Infrared cameras have found their purpose in various branches of science, from research in medicine, up to the observation of metallurgical processes during metal production and processing.
Thermography as a method is based on detecting and measuring electromagnetic waves in the infrared spectrum of light. Since all the bodies above the absolute zero transmit wholl or a part of their heat energy in the infrared spectrum, using infrared detectors it is possible to measure their temperature.
